SPACES for the Community – 2016 Yearbook

SPACES are an organisation that supports community building projects and brings together people working in the industry to share experience and knowledge. Each year a yearbook is created which celebrates the best in public sector buildings and is circulated to SPACES members at the annual awards ceremony. The award categories include:  Civic building of the year, site manager of the year, surveying excellence and innovation. The yearbook is kept as an inspiration reference book and used throughout property teams countrywide.

We were approached by SPACES to create a new look for the yearbook which was more in line with the website we designed for them. It was felt that the previous yearbooks didn’t showcase the projects effectively or have a sophisticated enough feel. SPACES wanted to increase interest in public sector building projects and were eager for their yearbook to become a talking point.

With this in mind we adjusted the format of the brochure making it A4 landscape, as opposed to portrait, in order to allow for bigger, more impactful project images. We kept the layout very simple throughout to let the projects speak for themselves, using clean typography and subtle hints of the SPACES blue to highlight key information. The yearbook was printed on a silk paper with a soft touch laminate cover to give the yearbook a professional and luxurious feel.

We also worked on a presentation which was used at the 2016 awards ceremony.
